Cycling arounds the headlands of La Sienne river affords wonderful views of the Normandy countryside. This 21km circular route starts in Regnéville-sur-Mer with views towards the remains of the bridge at Pont de la Roque, the nearby lime kilns, the lighthouse at Pointe d’Agon and the ruined chateau. You’ll also pass through small villages typical of this part of the Normandy coastline.
The castle almost seems to defy gravity!
This is the view from La Pointe d’Agon looking towards Regnéville.
A great resource for cyclists is the Coutance Tourism cycling page. You can download the circular loop described above. There are another five cycle loops to download ranging from 17 to 28 kilometres. The page also has information about bike hire companies and green routes for cycling near Coutances and Saint-Sauveur Lendelin. These aren’t loops but they’re off the beaten track so are perfect for children.
